After more than 40 yearsof collecting, the time has come to thin down
on my antique-sewing-machinecollection and ephemera. Please check
for new items each week. They will range from thesuper-rare to the more

A superb-condition AmericanHand machine from 1884.
A few of these havesurvived in top collections but this is the nicest one I’ve
encountered.
Superb original nickelplating and not a sign of rust.
The ma...chine carries themaker’s name – the AM.H.S.M. Co. and the patent
date of October 21, 1884.
The downsize to thisfantastic survivor is that the small bullet-shape shuttle
has gone astray.
The machine weighs just 12 ounces (350 grams) and is 8 inches long.
One of the very few machinesever made designed to be operated like a pair
of shears with just one hand.
The construction isengineered brass with nickel plating.
This machine will be posted by a Royal Mail tracked service and will need a
signature on arrival.
