This is a really great Deputy Sheriff badge from what i think could be around the 1880's-90's. Thomas J Sexton had a long career as a Deputy Sheriff, Indian Policeman, US Marshall, and Sheriff as well as several other public service positions. He lived in what was still Indian territory until it became the state of Oklahoma in 1907. There are several interesting newspaper articles about him online including a quite lengthy article about a manhunt in North Texas that ended up with a mob... taking the suspect away from him and 3 other US Marshalls. I can provide copies of that article if you'd ask after purchase. Tom Sexton was also a member of the Choctaw tribe and lived in Durant OK as well as the pacific northwest and obviously Kansas for a time. Really interesting historical badge. As you can see the pin was broken off long ago which i dont think detracts much from something so historical and the person i bought it from cleaned a bit of the back to see the hallmark more clearly. Other than that its a great badge!1890's Allen Stamp And Seal Co Deputy Sheriff Badge. Condition is Used. Shipped with USPS First Class Package.
