Mabie Todd Swan New York 48 BHR Fountain Pen 1920s. 14C F HUGE size 8 Nib. RARE. Just Serviced with new Ink Sac. Pen has zero, cracks, splits or repairs etc.

Made in New York, USA 1918-25. These model ETN/48 are the largest pen Ma...bie Todd made in New York at that time. They are wide pens that have very LARGE size 8 nibs. Mabie Todd's version of the Waterman 58 so to speak and these ETN/48 are a similar width to the 58 but a little shorter. Still the ETN/48 is also a long pen measuring in at 14cm or 5.5 inches capped. A chunky pen for people who like oversize pens...The pen itself is made of BHR (Black Hard Rubber). The colour is all original never re blacked. It has warmed to an even Dark Chocolate colour that befits its age. This pen has been used and enjoyed in its life. The Swan Mabie Todd, New York etc Barrel Imprints are a little worn but still readable. The Tail end has ETN/48 imprint. The early Step Clip, Ring Band and Lever are Yellow Gold Plated and do show Patina and age in the high points etc as one would expect on a used pen this age. Mainly these Lever suffer some plate loss. This is true on ALL 1917-30 Swan Lever models that have the Slim Lever. Any one who collects Swan Lever pens almost has to accept this. Of course those issue are just cosmetic. Having said all that this is a 90+ year old pen and so you must forgive the odd wrinkle here or there. Not to say there isn't still a lot of life in the old boy yet. Just be aware this is not a new or mint example but a used, loved and enjoyed example. These are VERY rare pens. This chap needs a home with someone who will love him for what he is warts and all. The last of the TRUE Oversize Swan pens..... After this pen the size 8 Nib and extra wide body was dropped from the range both in New York and England. This is rare treasure indeed.
