Offered for your consideration this evening isa beautiful vintage Montblanc pen from the 1940sM O N T B L A N C No. 244 Jet BlackGold Filled trimc. 1948HistoryThis is the 224 model, which is a piston filler(designated as model no. 244). These pens were only made in Denmark for Danishmarket and only for a very short time (from 1948 until c. 1950). It’s an earlymodel, with the Montblanc trademark Mont M-Blanc logo to the cap.The cap has a twin bands at the cap lip like al...l24x series pens and a beautiful Art deco Skyscraper-type stepped clip. The caphas is slightly streamlined, with a button cap top inlaid a white Montblancsnowflake logo. Button filling mechanism (this model was also available in the pistonfiller version, model no. 24x)This is the second largest pen in the 22x line-up(consisting of models 222, 224, 226).Item condition:Fair condition: there is some wear to the goldfilled clip resulting from normal use (please see photos) and the barrelcelluloid lacquer has significant wear; some tiny hairlines to the threads asshown. Otherwise, the inlaid Montblanc snowflake logo looksgreat; nice high gloss surface and great crisp and fullyreadable imprints on the cap. All in all, a decent vintage USER GRADE pen that isstill presentable.Imprints on the cap:Mont ^^-Blanc The filling system:Patented Montblanc button filler.To fill, simply unscrew the Blind Cap and place thenib in ink so that the lower part of the section is also immersed. Turn thefiller knob counter-clockwise until it stops and then clockwise to draw ink.Remove the nib from ink bottle. Wipe the pen point and section with papertowel. Replace the blind cap by screwing it back on to the barrel.All done.
