Cosmetic condition: No dents, dings on the body but there are two dings on the case base. There is a slight rise on the left side... of the ribbon cover, seen when viewed from the left side. There is nothing obvious as to the cause of this and it is slight and the cover fits tight and secure. There is some paint loss on the lip of the base where the case cover slips over the body. The typewriter cover has significant surface wear (no dings) but has done its job of protecting the typewriter very well the past 50+ years! The cover latch closes and latches properly (please review all photos).
Designed by Paillard of Switzerland and assembled in France, Hermes 3000 is the ultimate in typewriter design, engineering and construction--they truly are the 'Cadillacs of typewriters'--quality you feel and experience with every precise, solid, ergonomic keystroke.
Among the hallmark features of the 3000 is the unique red ribbon margin gauge built into the paper bail. Like the red mercury in a vintage thermometer, you have a very easy and graphic visual indicator of the margins as you set them within with the ruled paper bail. It's very easy and fast--well, once you do it a time a time or two-- as it is a unique design. Other 3000 features include push-button tab settings at the top of the keyboard and a touch regulator adjustment lever to customize key pressure to your preference.
Aesthetically, the Hermes distinctive mint/seafoam green color is a 'statement' in itself--no other typewriter looks like the 3000. The unique combination of styling and color give it a full-on Mid-Century Euro 'Mod' look with the result being a practical machine work of art.
INCLUDES: Instruction manual, and both original Hermes brushes (located under cover)
Perfect for stories, poems, term papers, Great American novel--or just silly love notes--all with great distinction and flair!
Famous author note: Sam Shepard was one of many famous authors to use the Hermes 3000 for their writing.
