I have more of what you want this week -- all of it beautiful, all of it uncommon, all of it collectible, and all of it being offered with no reserve -- so make sure to check out my other auctions after you look at this one.
Here's an excellent detective camera manufactured by J.T. Chapman in London ca. 1892. As you can see in the pictures, the camera is in very good condition throughout and still retains its original ebony finish, its original falling plate holders, its ori...ginal lens, its original back, its original manufacturer's ID plate, its original strap, etc.
The spring in the back of the camera is still resilient, and the plates load in place as designed (and drop into the plate reservoir when a new plate is loaded), but it's a convoluted, difficult procedure, and it will likely take quite a few tries for you to figure it out.
The spring on the internal shutter flap is still good, but the two strings that open and close the flap will need to be replaced (if you wish to attempt to use the camera), as the original pull strings have both dried out and broken. Likewise, the string on the roll-blind shutter (inside in the front cover) is down to a nub and will also need to be replaced if wish to operate that shutter.
That's about it. I will pack it carefully and properly. Auction participants with no prior feedback history should also contact me before placing a bid. Buyer prepays and includes shipping. Paypal okay.
