BEAUTIFUL RARE 17th/18th CENTURY SILK BROCADE 1750s SPITALFIELDS LYON 290 ... Click images to enlarge Description The last beautiful small piece of rare late 17th or early 18th century silk brocade, most likely from Spitalfields or Lyon with a wonderful sinuous floral design, it is much more beautiful in real life than in the photos. I think it was originally a 17th/18th century dress silk that was pieced into a pelmet at some point towards the end of the 18th century. It is backed with the remains of some hand loomed linen braid and some silk, see photos.
The condition is: mostly quite good with some rubbing to the surface, fading etc commensurate with age and use, see photos.It measures about 14.5" by 7", or 37 cms by 18 cms. Thank you for looking.
