DESCRIPTION:
This unique woven wall hanging was hand made in India for Interlude Inc., Newark, NJ. (Design number 419.) The scene depicts abutting male and female pheasants gazing at each other while walking in the snow under a canopy of leafless trees. The piece - made of brown, tan and off-white shimmering and muted threads - is a visual and tactile three-dimensional artwork composed of 50% jute, 30...% art silk, 10% wood and 10% cotton. It has a pottery seal ("bead of authenticity") in lower right corner, measures 38 inches by 26 inches, and has a Don Freedman copyright sticker on reverse side. In an October 2016 interview by Sarah Neubert, Don Freedman said that his artistic drive was created "by my need to fill the empty places inside myself and others."
