You are bidding on a SUPERB WW2 German Heer / Luftwaffe Issue Bunker Telephone! Brought back by a US veteran, this came from a bunker located in Germany, however I do not have any specific history with this item. Accurate intelligence and secure lines of communication are crucial elements to all armies in the field and during WWII each division in the German Army had an integral Signals unit. The Signals unit were usually of Battalion strength and generally consisted o...f a Headquarters Company, a Radio Company and a Telephone Company. The Signals personnel utilized a wide variety of radio receivers, telephones and associated communications equipment in all theatres of operation. The Type Fg. Wast 9d was one of the largest of the standard issue bunker telephones used by the German military during WWII. Made of solid steel, bakelite, and aluminum, and designed to practically withstand nuclear attack, this phone is in AMAZING used condition! The steel main door in secured tightly with triangular bolts, and when when open, reveals all the internal electrical components, which remain in near MINT condition! There is a prominent printed circuit schematic diagrams on the lid, as well as various manufacture marks and stamps. Dated 1941, it features the original insulated cord, leading to the main handset (earphone and mouthpiece), as well as secondary connections for other equipment. The cord itself is cracking in numerous places, so it may need to be replaced, if one wishes to make this functional. There is one small dent on the earpiece, but that could be easily fixed, if one wished. Everything is 100% ORIGINAL to this phone. and it remains in unrestored condition, retaining it's authentic WW2 look and feel!Even with the cracked insulated cord, it is still one of the nicest and MOST COMPLETE bunker phones I have ever seen! I have indicated the exact type of phone located the Atlantik Wall Museum in Belgium. Weighing approximately 35 lbs., it is a PERFECT item for any collection or display!
