When Gilbert Rohde began his partnership with Herman Miller Furniture Company, the struggling maker was concerned more with period revival designs. Rohde introduced the company to Modern design, and ultimately, office furnishings. Although his untimely death at a young age ended his career, his designs for Herman Miller are among the most iconic of the 20th Century. This asymetrical desk is from the "Paldao" line of furnishings, named after the exotic Paldao woods used on the top surfa...ces. This is a lovely finish, and also features the original leather cloth on drawer compartments and leg. The top drawer still retains the original foil label, with the Gilbert Rohde signature. This is certainly a fine example of a classic form by one of Americas top designers of the period. There is a tiny chip in the second front drawer, and some water damage to the base (see pics). This desk is in otherwise excellent condition for being ~80 years old. *Local pickup only*
