SUPERB & RARE 19THC CHINESE APPLE GREEN WHITE JADE JADEITE HANGING VASE BASKETSJOANIES IMPORTANT ASIAN ARTS NO RESERVE ESTATE AUCTION! Hello, Thank you for having a look at our auctions! Up for auction is a pair of SUPERB & RARE 19THC CHINESE APPLE GREEN WHITE JADE JADEITE HANGING BASKETS w HARDWOOD STANDS. The baskets are fine antique examples that I am confident would date to the Qing dynasty. The baskets came from estate with intricately carved hardwood stands that display and present the baskets beautifully. I have read that such baskets were carved as part of a final exam (I guess you could say) for Imperial Scholar’s students to see if they have achieved a high enough degree of carving skills so they could transition to become official Imperial grade carvers. In many years I have not seen another set like these other than in books, and likely will not again for some time!
Condition: Fine condition with no damage to either jade basket. One wood stand has been re-glued at top dragons nose.
Size: The baskets with stands are great examples to display with the baskets themselves measuring 3 3/4 inches tall, by 1 3/4 inches wide. The baskets are a very similar weights being 64.5 and 65.2 grams. The baskets with stands measure 6 inches tall.
