VERY RARE CHINESE IMPERIAL OFFICERS SWORD w SHAGREEN SHEATH MING QING DYNASTYWITH FINE GOLD TASSLES EXCEPTIONALLY RARE FIND. NR! Hello, Thank you for having a look at our auctions! This week we are offering one of our most important and largest estate auctions of the year. Up for auction is a VERY RARE CHINESE IMPERIAL OFFICERS SWORD w SHAGREEN SHEATH MING QING DYNASTY. This sword is very unique and we have seen very few (literally no) examples like this being offered. We are told this sword would have been used by an Imperial officer and appears to have very old age. The blade has some unique features and the sheath is made of shagreen or possible stingray. The handle has two hanging solid gold tassels. We believe it may be some time before you have the opportunity to acquire another example like this.
Condition: Sword shows early age with heavy wear to gilt mounts and some losses to shagreen sheath. Gold tassels in good condition. Blade has some very minor nicks and is overall in nice unaltered original condition. Tip is intact and blade does not appear to have been re-sharpened.
Size: The sword has a total length of 36 1/4 inches long. The blade measuring from the handle end measures 27 3/4 inches long.
