Up for auction is a SUPERB & LARGE c1900 JAPANESE KINKOZAN SATSUMA GOLD GILT BLUE ENAMEL LANDSCAPE VASE. This vase is part of a great estate collection being offered this week that includes several Kinkozan Satsuma examples.
This vase is a superb example and one of the larger and more impressive Satsuma Kinkozan signed vases we have personally seen. The vase has an amazing design with figures among landscape to one side and bird landscape to the other. The vase has richly decorated gold gilt features on a rich cobalt-blue enamel ground. The vase has gilt Kinkozan seal marks along with an impressed Kinkozan seal mark to the base.
Condition: Central hairline to mid-section around rims as seen if you look closely as image. Likely an original kilning imperfection on an example of this age. Hairline does not extend to interior. Otherwise substantial fine condition with no further damage or repairs. All items studied under UV black light to ensure no hidden damages.
Size: The vase is an impressive large size example measuring 15 1/2 inches tall, by 9 inches wide.
