TOPQUALITY Decorated toone side only indicating an early date. ACOMPLETE WORK OF ART- SUCH FANTASTIC WORKMANSHIP WHICH MUST HAVE TAKEN AGES TOCOMPLETE. Asuperb Chinese fan that dates from the late 18th / early 19th century. ITWAS MADE PURELY FOR EXPORT TO THE WEST THROUGH THE OLD CHINA TRADE AT CANTON. Thefan is decorated with the intricate and de...licate detail, typical of theworkmanship of this period which obviously took exceptional skill, patience andtime. Theguards are in deep relief with the eight immortals. On the reverse of eachguard there are further figures. Thesticks are very finely and profusely decorated with numerous orientalfigures, scholars and warriors with swords, going about their daily lives.There is a central oval cartouche with the original owners monogram. ATTHE BASE THE RIVET HAS MOTHER OF PEARLWASHERS. Ithas a mellow warm patina through age. Thefan measures approximately 7.5 inches long and is in very good condition with justa few filament break outs. ITIS A FINE EXAMPLE OF THIS TYPE OF UNBELIEVABLE EARLY CRAFTSMANSHIP.
