for a detailed view.This is a leaf from a medieval manuscript Bible; Paris, France - circa 1240; in Latin and on Vellum (190xl40mm). There are fifty lines of double Gothic script, Book Headings, Chapter Numbers. A large six- capital "V" is in a brilliant burnished gold background and scribed in blues, white and pink. Inside the cavity of the initial is a miniature of the King upon his throne wearing robes of blue and rose with a gold crown upon His head. The...re is a younger seated next to Him, also in robes of blue.Ecclesiastes 1 1-3"The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem. Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity. What profit hath a man of all his labour which he taketh under the sun?.....". A two-line initial "O" in red with scrolling and exquisite pen work in red, blue and green. The Opening to the Book of Ecclesiastes: "On the vanity of human wisdom". The verso fifty lines of double Gothic script, Book Headings, Chapter Numbers. a two-lint initial "O", in blue and a two-line initial "V" in red also with decorative pen work in red, blue and green.
