The Iconic LOUIS XIII Cognac crystal decanter is a symbol of exception and enduring perfection, with no two decanters being exactly the same.
Louis XIII cognac is produced in the Grande Champagne region of Cognac, from the growing of the grapes to the distillation and aging of the eaux-de-vie. The final blend is composed of up to 1, 200 individual eaux-de-vi...e from Grande Champagne vineyards, ranging from at least 40 years to 100 years in age.
The concept for the decanter of Louis XIII originated in 1850, when Paul-Emile Rémy Martin came across a metal flask originally recovered from the site of the Battle of Jarnac (1569). He purchased the metal flask and registered the rights for its reproduction. In 1874, in honor of the House’s 150th anniversary, he designed a glass replica of the flask to use as the vessel for his best cognac.
This handcrafted crystal decanter up for auction is handmade by French crystal manufacturer, Baccarat.
This Remy Martin Louis XIII lighted display and Baccarat Crystal decanter are in excellent condition. The bottle is clean and flawless. The display back light is in working condition as is the door lock. The display and bottle have remained in the same residence for 17 years, and were treated with care. There is a small area of "thumb wear" on the upper left, above the door that could likely be buffed out if one were so inclined. as well as a small spot and light scratch on the top. These are highlighted in the pictures. This is an amazing display piece!
