THIS IS RE-OFFERED FOR SALE AS THE PREVIOUS BUYER FAILED TO PAYThis is a VOIGTLANDER DAK "DEUTSCHES AFRIKAKORPS" German Military Binocular made in Germany during the early days of World War II. It comes in it's original leather case with carry strap.
The binocular is clearly marked 6x30 to the right prism cover and the case is marked "Voigtlander" to the flap. Whilst the binocular is otherwise unmarked, it is guaranteed to be a genuine "DAK" military issue binocular, as evidenced by the orginial sand coloured finish, the dark brown bakelite eyecups and distinctive eyepiece retainers with wrench slots.
Condition of the sand coloured finish is very good, with just surface wear, mainly to the prism covers and objective lens surrounds, a few paint chips and superficial marks and blemishes.
It needs a thorough clean internally, but optical condition is otherwise pretty good. Both eyecups are in very good condition with just a few surface scratches.This binocular has individual eyepiece focusing; both eyepieces rotate smoothly and fully in both directions and focus perfectly. Externally, the uncoated lenses are in very good condition with just one or two surface scatches. From an imaging point of view, they are in fairly good condition, producing quite a crisp image, with no major collimation issues. There is a minute blister in the left hand prism, but it's so small you have to look hard to see it, but otherwise the prisms seem to be in good order, with no chips or cracks that I can detect. There are a quite few specks and marks internally, with some superficial evidence of fungus, but as the lenses/prisms are not coated, a good clean/service should bring them back to very good serviceable condition.
The binocular has it's original leather neck strap and comes in it's original leather case with carry strap. The case is in very good condition, with just a few superficial scuffs and blemishes. The case has a lockable metal catch, which is in good working order, but please note there is no key. The straps, whilst complete are well over 75 years old, so I cannot vouch for their strength and therefore they should not be relied upon.
For best results this binocular would ceretainly benefit from a full service and being thoroughly cleaned/polished, it is therefore offered at a low start price with no reserve.
This item will weigh almost 1.3 Kgs once packed safely, which is reflected in my shipping charges. It will be sent by "Tracked" delivery within the UK or Airmail Small Packets (Tracked/Signed) if going overseas.

Items of packaged weight exceeding 2kgs (4.4 lbs) are not accepted by Royal Mail so cannot be shipped by any Airmail Small Packet service. Any package (regardless of weight) whose Length, Height and Width added together exceed 90cms (36 ins) are also not accepted by Royal Mail and so cannot be shipped by any Airmail Small Packet service. It is therefore not always possible or financially viable to combine items if together they exceed either size or weight limits for Airmail. These limits also apply to Surface Mail and International Signed For. If an item (or items) exceed the maximum weight AND/OR size limit for Airmail Small Packets, then overseas shipping costs for certain countries may not be listed.
