These beautiful old ceramic jars came full of the product which they tastefully advertise to each side. CRÈME DE SAVON POUR LA BARBE ROGER & GALLET PARIS FRANCE.This translates as "Shaving Cream for the barber"A lovely Monogram for Roger & Gallet to the lid. These pots were the essential packaging of their day- and even toothpaste came in similar pots, also beautifully transfer printed. These are rare survivors as they were almost always simply discarded when finished- much like toda...ys packaging.This example has no chipping or cracks and would be a superb dressing table or bathroom item, lending a classic old world touch to any setting, and quite feminine also for a shaving cream jar.The jar is guaranteed at least 120 years old- likely older still.Approx diameter 9cm- 6.5cm in height.
