NO Reserve... This is a RARE Antique 19th Century Sun Mfg. Greenfield , Ohio Cash Register...Circa 1890s these were one of many cash register companies that tried to compete with National Cash Register...The Sun has one of the more unusual mechanisms that actually pushed little steel balls into the numbered tracks underneath the hinged deck shelf when you push the buttons for the transaction ( see close up ) …The keys are exposed by the rolling cover door when the cash drawer is open...ed ...This one functions somewhat ( as far as I understand it’s method ) but it is quite stiff and sticks often.Cosmetically it is in very nice condition including the nickel plating as well as the dark green material on the writing deck...Still has the original marquee...Measures 19 Inches wide by 17 inches deep and 22 inches tall including the marquee ( 16 with marquee removed )...Some of the number and text pop up tabs have come off, but are in the drawer. ( see Photo )...Overall a really nice example of a very rare cash register that would be great kept as is or an excellent candidate to restore… Buyer pays shipping. The Sun Manufacturing Company was originally created by John M. Waddell (John M. Waddell Manufacturing Company ). Waddell joined into a partnership with E. L. McClain and others which lasted several years. Then McClain bought out Waddell, changed the name to the Sun Manufacturing Company and moved it to Columbus. It was later sold to the Columbus Showcase Company. It was located at the corner of Fourth Street and Lyndon Avenue.
