ROBERT MAXWELL Hand Crafted Stoneware Wall Hanging Outdoor Planter 1970 ' S
Item History & Price
MAKER: Robert Maxwell
DESCRIPTION: This listing is for a unique stoneware item by California ceramist Robert Maxwell. Its a hand crafted planter intended for display on an outdoor wall or fence. Resembling a bell when upside down, it has a flat side with a hole for hanging. In addition, there are small holes in the base section to allow excess water to drain. The brown stoneware clay has been accented at the top & bottom with a slate grey... matte glaze. On the front are a couple of overlapping brush strokes in light & dark gloss glaze. I've never seen another similar item by this artist.A LITTLE HISTORY: Rather than adding a brief history of Robert Maxwell's career here, a better information source is his ebook: robert maxwell ceramics.net which I had a hand in creating. I got to know Robert very well over the course of several meetings at his studio/classroom where he was teaching in the 1990's. I even managed to throw a few decent pots on the wheel with his help.
DATE: Early 1970's (around the time "Earthgender, " his partnership with David Cressey, was formed)
DIMENSIONS: 8" height, 9" width, 8" depth
MARKS: Incised signature "MAXWELL" on the side as shown
CONDITION: Excellent. No damage or notable issues.
SHIPPING & PAYMENT: NOTE: If you have any special shipping requirements, please clear them with me before bidding. There basically are 2 USPS shipping options for packages. Parcel Select (Economy Shipping) is somewhat cheaper than the cost of Priority Mail, the listed option. Priority Mail (Expedited Shipping) is much faster & safer and includes limited insurance coverage. For long distance shipping, I feel that Priority Mail is definitely the better choice. The actual cost of these options is determined by 3 things: package weight & size and the destination or distance from the seller. If you prefer Parcel Select, I’ll need to know your shipping preference immediately after an auction ends so an amended invoice can be sent to you. Local pickup is another option.Timely payment is expected. As an eBay seller, my goal is a 24 hour turnaround for securely wrapping, packaging and shipping your purchase and I think it’s only right that the buyer adheres to a similar standard. I expect your PayPal payment within 3 days..
