PA GERMAN FRAKTUR PICTURES ATTRIBUTED TO CAROLINA BREY (1842 - 1925) - DATED 1858

This fraktur is attributed to Carolina Brey. It was completed in 1858 when Carolina would have been 16 years old. At that time she lived in Huffs Church, Pennsylvania. Some of Carolina Brey's other frakturs were sold by Christie's in New York in 2003. An extract from the auction record is illustrated for reference purposes only.
There are two pictures drawn on a single sheet of paper. One picture is of a boy and his dog. The other picture is of a ...bird, possibly a dove. Both pictures are colored in Brey's typical palette of blue, maroon, and yellow with brown inked outlines. There is some incompleted calligraphic lettering above the picture of the boy and his dog.
The entire piece, including paper backing, measures approximately 4 1/8 X 6 1/2 inches.
