Early Cuff-Type Microscope
Microscope standing some 16" tall and mounted on a mahogany base some 5½"x 5½". The instrument has a typical square stage with holes for accessories which can be moved to focus by means of a rack and pinion, the rack being housed in the sturdy brass upright.(3rd photo). The body tube has some horizontal movement and is clamped in position by means of the flat knob at the top of the upright (same 3rd photo). There are no marks ...on the instrument indicating maker and the accessory drawer in the base is empty apart from one additional objective lens (engraved "5", the one already on the microscope being engraved "4"). The instrument is in good physical condition and I note only a missing screw (4th photo) and some deterioration of the silvering on the mirror (6th photo). The last photo is of a microphotograph offered elsewhere this week taken rather inexpertly through the instrument on offer.
