Here is a rare poster reprint of a 1926 MAP OF HOLLYWOOD drawn "from the best surveys of the time" by HAROLD W. GRIEVE, an acclaimed art director from the silent film era who then became a renowned interior designer, working with his wife, silent screen femme fatale JEDDA GOUDAL. A Los Angeles native, Grieve was born in 1901 and died in 1993 - this poster was SIGNED / AUTOGRAPHED BY HAROLD W. GRIEVE in 1989 (see photo). You can also see his original signature on the poster print.<...br>The map poster measures 36" x 24". Some of the individual buildings are identified, such as Grauman's Chinese Theatre, The Hollywood Athletic Club and others. The map extends (out of scale) to Beverly Hills, including the homes of silent-era stars including Pola Negri, Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks, Jack Gilbert, King Vidor and more. In addition to the map images, there are film-related drawings around the border...and "dialogue" cartoon-style balloons imagining talk going on in a number of the buildings on the map. The poster comes from a smoke- and pet-free home. There is some age-/storage-related edgewear and minor creasing in a few spots - it has been rolled and might have been rubber banded around the center at one point. There are no notable tears, and the map image is in terrific condition. I am not the original owner, so I don't know when the poster was made. There is printing in the lower left corner that says THE CALIFORNIA POSTER CO. This is a truly unique piece of Hollywood history. It will be shipped carefully rolled and fully insured. Email with any questions. Thanks!
