A single mantle kerosene burning lantern, American Gas Machine Company ( AGM ) model 3470. Stenciled on the front of the green painted brass fount " FOR / KEROSENE / ONLY ". This lantern was produced for the U.S. military about 1940 - 42, the bottom of the fount is marked " U. S. ". When tested it lit easily after pre-heating, it burned steady with no problems. The fount has a few light scrapes and scratches, it has NO SPLITS, CRACKS, LINES OR DENTS, it has held fuel under pressure for... three days with no leaks! The green painted steel collar has a little rust, the ventilator has a couple very tiny chips, the wrench has some rust. The globe is marked " McKee Glassbake " and is probably original.
