Crimson red is the most rare color of Wedgwood jasperware. The red color was inclined to bleed into the white, producing an unsatisfactory pink instead of white, therefore there was limited production over many attempts to produce this beautiful ware. Circa 1880-1930. It was only made for a few years and is, therefore, very rare and valuable. Marked on the bottom: WEDGWOOD (in very small capital letters). Across on the opposite s...ide it is stamped: #ENGLAND (with a hashtag mark). The words "MADE IN" are not on the on the bottom. The term "Made in" was required on items imported into the US in 1921, therefore, this jardiniere was MADE PRIOR to 1921.
This rare beauty has been well cared for and Age has created some small surface cracks in the crimson as pointed out in several of the photos. There are also a few age cracks and surface cracks in the white grapes and grape leaves.just the surface cracks from age / drying over a period of time. There are no cracks or chips in the body of this jardiniere
