This air brush from around 1949 is said to be the first drawing made of what a flying saucer looked like. Obvious connections to the Starship Enterprise are seen. The 1950's was a madhouse of UFO activity and Tremulis was inspired to draw his imaginary image.
This drawing Alex was made for his fun, amusement, and enjoyment, but also it was the beginning of the process of his designing the flying saucer hood ornament which is now quite famous among enthusiasts and collectors. We have another auction for his drawing of a tricycle saucer handlebar ornament which is also a one of a kind drawing in the world.
The drawing has been in our family since it was obtained directly from Alex around 1950. My uncle is listed on the patent for his auto hood ornament as a partner and through this association my uncle acquired drawings of Alex's. My uncle is still alive and his identity can be verified via his drivers license. He is willing to speak with anyone who is interested in bidding on this drawing, he is 93 and can relay the stories about his working with Alex. An image of the patent application is available if you search for tremulis auto hood ornament patent. There you'll see my uncles name. Here is another article which shows several reproductions of this drawing on auction in publications during the 1950's. Also letters are reproduced by my uncle concerning the hood ornament.

We are parting with it as we grow older and pare down our possessions.
Please look at the photos to see the condition which is very good vintage condition over all with some imperfections in the paper and a small area of discoloration in the image. It was stored away since 1960 and remains full color and as amazing as it looked when it was first drawn.
Good luck on this extremely rare item!
