THE ITEM: This model is believed to be a preproduction model. It has many differences from the regular "production" K-13 Building Transporter model including:
- Unpainted cab base with unusual rivet (style & location)
- Year cast as "197" instead of "1971 on cab base
- Cast round "lug" at rear center of flatbed body (underside)
- Cast open hole on rear panel
- Metal "spring" suspension on rearmost wheels
- Number plates cast "blank" ...(no numbers) front and rear
- Lack of numerous cast details along frame sides below flatbed
- Lack of cast "louvers" between cab and bed front panel (both sides and top)
- Cab windows have a light blue tint as opposed to the normal clear production windows
- Red plastic frame is attached to the flatbed with tiny screws
- Hand-crimped axles
There may also be a few other things that I have missed, but if the above isn't enough to convince you I'm not sure what else would. I am not sure if all of the plastic house pieces are included...this is exactly how I got the model. Comparison photos have been provided next to a regular "production" model (lime with red base) to show the differences mentioned above. THE RGULAR PRODUCTION MODEL IS NOT INCLUDED. I have decided to sell my personal Matchbox car collection This collection numbers well over 10, 000 individual pieces and includes Regular Wheels, Superfast, post-Lesney issues, Twin Packs, Convoys, Team Transporters, Gift Packs SuperKings, SpeedKings, a wide variety of MB38 Model A Vans, and more. There are boxed models, loose models, blister pack cars, empty boxes, collector’s catalogs, accessories, carrying cases, MICA and Matchbox USA Newsletters, and much, much more. I am planning to sell all of it here on ebay and at local toy shows for as long as it takes to sell the entire collection. There are numerous rare and desirable pieces in this collection, as well as many common models. There are also numerous "error" and factory "mistake" models (a specialty of mine), as well as a few preproduction and other special models. Most of the models themselves are in near mint condition, collector quality. Many of the models were purchased from well-known and respected dealers and vendors in the Matchbox hobby. A very few may have some light wear, but most will be considered like new to most collectors. I will not rate the condition of these items, but will try to note and/or photograph any flaws. A NOTE ON SHIPPING COSTS: Shippng in the USA is via USPS Priority Mail or USPS First Class/Parcel Select. Shipping costs are an estimate.
