Original SWISS HOTEL TRAVEL POSTER ca. 1905 Davos Ice Axe Mountaineering. Restored and backed on linen. Before skiing and long before snowboarding alpine climbing with an ice axe was a winter sport. Exploring glaciers high in the Swiss Alps or just dressing the part was “en vouge” in Davos at the Central Sport Hotel. Large posters like this one were plastered on rail station walls throughout Europe. This helped turn Switzerland into the worlds first and finest winter destination. Edge tears etc. have all been repaired. The lower left corner extending diagonally through the “S” has been replaced. Under natural conditions these repairs are virtually imperceptible.
