One (1) Matchbox Lesney hard-to-find Matchbox ESSO Sales & Service Station MG-1b Accessory Building and original Lesney box in fair, repaired condition (new end flap) showing yellow and clear plastic garage, ramp, and showroom with ESSO Lubrication Service decal on left hand side, red base and forecourt, ESSO painted metal topper, E...SSO Pump Island and Sign Accessory Set A-1-A and original box in fair condition which has been repaired with an identical laser printed end flap and some internal reinforcement. This model building is in excellent to near mint overall condition. It was introduced in 1961 and was sold in this type and a similar BP livery station re-issued in 1963 (Mack).

"The Second Matchbox Service Station was introduced in 1961...The station was a two-storey design; the base and forecourt were red and the building yellow. A yellow plastic ramp clipped on to the rear to add extra play value. There was a red diecast facia board and clock on the roof. The remainder of the garage was made in plastic. The base also featured a red servicing and repair ramp and a yellow plastic manhole cover directly in front. As with the first type of garage, an area on the forecourt was molded to take the No. 1 Esso Petrol Pumps. The recorded clock time was five past four. Various labels featuring Esso, The A.A., R.A.C., and Matchbox adorned the service station. All bases were embossed 'MATCHBOX GARAGE MADE IN ENGLAND BY LESNEY'."
The base is 23.5 cm wide and 16.5 cm deep. The building is 18 cm wide by 9 cm deep by 8 cm high, not including the metal topper. All parts of the service station are present and intact. No cracks. The clear plastic windows are clean and clear. The decal on the topper is in near perfect condition showing a small nearly invisible repair on the clock. The side decal shows a few small nicks. The rear ramp is fully intact and functional as can be seen in the photos. This Matchbox ESSO Sales and Service Station will display as practically new. 2. Grading:VNM = Very Near Mint. No cracks or missing pieces. The paintwork, if any, is, for all practical purposes, close to new. Original factory flaws will be noted in the listing if they exist. All original accessories are present.

EXC = Excellent. Minorstructural, paintwork and/or applique imperfections may exist, usually due to improper storage, not play, and will be evident in the photos. Paintwork imperfections may have been restored. Decals or other appliques may have been replaced with replicas.
