Mabie Todd Swan L6 JUMBO 4661 Leverless BHR Fountain Pen 1946. 14C F Nib. RARE. Just Serviced with new Ink Sac. Pen has zero, cracks, splits or repairs etc. Fabulous example....

Made in London, England 1946-50. This is the LARGE...ST pen Mabie Todd made at that time. It was also the first to have the full streamline body contours. These style of leverless pens were the first to be made in the new factory with new machine tooling etc as the old factory was bombed to the ground during the war by the Germans. But where this pen differs from most of these is the fact its made of BHR (Black Hard Rubber) Indeed most of these pen are made of Celluloid. Why this model came in both I am not sure but they do have unique model numbers 4660 = Celluloid 4661 = BHR. Perhaps in the stubborn English way some folk just did not like modern plastics and only trusted the tried and tested BHR so Swan for a limited time offered both. I am unsure if this was available across the line or unique to L6 which was their Top of the Line.
The pen has no Cracks Splits or Repairs. No dents, scratches or bite marks etc. The BHR has warmed a touch with age to a beautiful even Black Chocolate. Never re blacked all original colour. The Swan Mabie Todd Leverless Barrel Imprints are deep and easy to read as new. The Clip and Rings are Yellow Gold plated and also superb with no plate loss or brassing etc. All ring bands are tight. Rare! Beautiful MINT gold trim. This pen has been used very little in its life. Always looked after and never abused. Overall once in the hand to the naked eye this 70 year old looks amazing still. Rare to find at all in BHR let alone so clean. Just serviced with new ink sac works and writes as when new. 14C LARGE size 6 nib is perfect with zero damage or even signs of use. Beautiful nib. Very user friendly Fine line that has no paper scratch. Very elegant writer perfect for every day use. Superb Pen.

On 03-Aug-19 at 22:24:45 BST, seller added the following information:Some More information about how to fill LEVERLESS Swan Pens....These wonderful pens are Twist Fill and have Ink Sacs inside. When you turn the Dome shape Blind Cap (Tail End) it deflates the ink sac inside using a metal bar attached to the inside of the Blind Cap. Very Clever system. Then once you close the Blind Cap the Ink Sac reflates sucking in ink. To fill using bottled ink could not be any easier. Simply turn the knurled Dome Blind Cap one and a half full turns until it will not turn anymore. Now place the whole of nib in bottled ink and turn the Blind Cap closed. Wait 5 seconds to fill. Now take nib out of the bottle of ink and wipe any excess with paper towel. Done. Takes less than 10 seconds and is Child Play EASY. Wonderful filling system. I have just serviced ALL these leveless pens and they ALL work exactly as they left the factory when new. Superb pens....
