Only 1000 pair ever made. Original Goebel 7 3/4" Germany matching pair of hand painted porcelain bookends depicting; two very famous masonic statesmen; Benjamin Franklin and George Washington. The Benjamin Franklin Goebel/Hummel figurine is wearing a masonic apron and necklace (jewel) and holding the holy bible and gavel (hammer) and the other masonic symbols. This statue is made after a painting by masonic brother John Ward Dunsmore, one time president of the national academy of art. The other ...statue/figurine is representing the first president of the United States, George Washington, holding in his left hand his cocked hat, and in his right hand a gavel (hammer) Also wearing the masonic apron and accoutrements.
