Here's a beautiful quarter-plate tailboard camera manufactured in England in the late 1800's. Though tiny (just 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" x 3 1/2" when closed) the camera is built to the highest standards and comes with its original case, a signed Marion & Co. 5 x 4 single element lens and a Lizars double-slide plate holder.
Condition is excellent. Original leather bellows are clean and supple, with no misfolds (see pictures); original ground glass back is undamaged; original lens has no damage, no fungus. The sliding wood lock that keeps the bed stiff when the camera is open works properly and has not been damaged or repaired, and the brass fittings are all original, with no rust or significant tarnish. Rack and pinion focusing is working properly.
The camera folds up neatly and looks beautiful from any angle.
Carrying case is in excellent condition. Minimal signs of wear, as you can see, and the straps are still intact.
Please review the pictures and consider them an integral part of the description.
With camera and accessories inside, the case measures 7" x 5" x 7". Shipping weight approximately 8 lb.
