Schatz is the leading manufacturer of classic ships' instruments and one of the very few that still make the mechanical chinning movements that were so familiar to the naval and merchant seaman of 100 years ago.This Royal Mariner Clock has two eight-day mechanical movements; one for the clock and one for the chimes to mark the time-honoured "Ship's Bells" naval watch system - four hours on, four hours off (each half hour is marked by an increasing number of strikes until "eight bells" ...- time to change over).This is a top of the range instrument, equally at home in the saloons and staterooms of the world's super yachts.The intricate workmanship is protected in stove-lacquered, solid brass cases or chrome with thick glass ports, secured by brass scuttle clamps. The have black hands and numerals on white dial.Case dIameter 7", clock face diameter 5' depth 4"
