A fine and rare Rockingham leaf shaped basket, c. 1835 - 1841. Possibly made to commemorate the Coronation of Queen Victoria. Exceptionally well painted in the manner of Thomas Brentnall, to the centre with a ‘V’, formed in flowers, within a border of further flowers. The rim encrusted with flowering plants, issuing from a double twig entwined gilt handle - unusually in perfect condition.Could this basket have been made to commemorate the Coronation of Queen Victoria ?
