Another historic letter written in 1879 by an Indian Trader in at the Cheyenne River Agency in Dakota Territory (now South Dakota) - the writer was Robert Caton - originally from Plainfield, Illinois (southwest of Chicago near Joliet). He writes about how "quiet" the Indians are now - things have settled down in the disputes with the U.S. Government but he believes the government "is making a mitake in not letter Sitting Bull come in as he wants to, I am afraid ...that the result will be that the northern part of Dakota and Montana will be overrun with hostile bands all next summer. And it will have a bad effect upon those Indians at the Agencies who have been peaceful for a long time......"
