I appreciate it when viewers point out an error I may have mede in a listing.Being receptive to such information and correcting the information when needed is, I believe, the mark of a seller who wants you to have to correct information.
This listing is for a Bendix-Built R-1051B/URR HF Receiver.
It seems Raytheon acquired Bendix's contractor number when they acquired Bendix, which is why I had previously identified this as Raytheon-built.
It is a Stromberg-Ca...rlson design, built by different suppliers.I checked the manufacturer number on the data tag and come up with Raytheon as the builder, but a helpful individual clarified that Bendix held this radio's supplier number when this radio was built.
This is a mostly solid state replacement for the R-390 type receivers.
It is completely solid state except for the two tubes in the RF front end.
This receiver has a magnificent motor-driven band switching arrangement that I had thought only Collins could design.However, this originates with Stromberg-Carlson. I didn't know they had it in them to design this masterpiece...
The gears and chains on the bottom take the place of the R-390's cams.It's fun to watch it operate when you switch bands.
This receiver is fully synthesized.It tunes with the five rotary switches plus a fine tune knob.
This receiver is very rare and in good condition cosmetically, very good from the front and the chassis is beautiful.There are some scratches around the RF connectors on the back.
It is tested on all bands and works great on AM, LSB, USB and ISB.
The dial calibration is off about 2 KHz.
