Classic vintage ghetto blaster from the early 1980s, the golden era of electronics production. Model CA-100HG, made in Japan by Aiwa corporation. This is a big, high end, high power music system, built rock solid. Heavy quality and a beautiful finish, this system was made to impress in both looks and performance, and it does not fail on either front. It features proper heavy duty speaker cabinets which are more like bookshelf monitors, which connect to the centre stereo unit by means o...f built-in terminals, eliminating the need for wiring. There are wires included, the original ones for the unit which were provided, in the special compartment provided. The drivers have been professionally rebuilt by a qualified speaker technician, Arthur Francis speaker repairs. They have new rubber surrounds and sound perfect. The bass from this machine is astoundingly good. It sounds gorgeous, like a home hifi system. The Aiwa DSL (Dynamic Super Loudness) gives the sound tremendous depth and warmth. This unit is fully working , with all functions of the cassette deck working as they should, ff and rew are fast, and playback is clear and lovely. The machine has AUX and phono inputs, as well as a line out, for connection to home stereo systems. Perfect for listening to your music via your iPhone or other external device! It has separate controls for DSL(bass), treble, balance and volume. Also a microphone input level knob. There are switches for stereo and mono, tape type, and buttons for Dolby NR and DSL on/off. All controls work perfectly with no crackle. The dual LED VU meters are beautiful to watch moving with the music and the various LEDs across the system give it a warm, live feel , which complements the warmth and depth of the sound. You know you’re listening to a proper high quality boombox when you hear it. The condition looks beautiful from a meter away but there are various signs of its 35+ years of age. Small scuffs, scratches and dents in the aluminium trimming, the hold down clip missing from the antenna, and a little chip near the base of the aerial. The antenna still rests in its normal position, and extends to full length with only a slight wavy bit right at the very end. The soft-eject of the cassette door sometimes wants a little assistance to open all the way. But overall the presentation is as you see in the pictures - it looks lovely for its age. This is a prize piece and will suit the collector or lover of fine portables. It could also be used as a studio apartment stereo, or even taken to picnics or parties as the sound is amazing and it works on batteries. Unit is voltage selectable for worldwide. Operates on 9 D cell batteries or 13.5V DC external power supply. Power cord included if sold in Australia. I am happy to post internationally.
