for a detailed view. A very large antiphonal leaf, 31” x 22”, on extremely heavy vellum. Circa 1650, Spanish, possibly Toledo in Latin. This particular leaf contains the music and text The Song of Zechariah, on the occasion of the circumcision of his son, John The Baptist. Luke 1: 68-79"Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people, And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David; As ...he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began...." There is one staff of five lines, in red with musical notes and script in black ink. Rubrics are in red. A large and highly decorated initial “B” enclosed in a green border measuring 6” x 6”. The “B” is decorated in colorful shades of pink, rose, yellow purple and green. There is an initial "E" in red and an initial "S", in blueThe verso Contains four staves of five lines in red with notes and script in black ink and is a continuation of The Song of Zechariah.
