1523 POST INCUNABLE VITRUVIUS ARCHIECTURE WITH 170 WOODCUTS
VITRUVIUS POLLIO, MARCUS; and FRONTINUS, SEXTUS JULIUS. M. Vitruvii de architectura libri decem . . . additis Julii Frontini de aqueductibus libris. [Lyon: Guillaume Huyon], 1523. itle in red and black within woodcut historiated ornamental border; woodcut text illustrations throughout. Main text complete, b...ut bibliographically incomplete with 195 only ending with FINIS but lacking terminal signatures i.e. likely index(?) - [16], 2-22 leaves 8vo, 6.25 x 4 cm. 18th century mottled calf, edges singed, spine re-backed, inner margins of boards re-strengthend, title page re-backed with early ownership name effaced, evidence throughout of old mold stains primarily in lower half, some toning and some dampstaining. Still, with approx 170 interesting wood engravings, and despite the aforementioned imperfections, not entirely unpleasing as a modest copy of a rather expensive book when found.
