Authentic Vintage U.S. Mint Canvas Bag
This great vintage bank bag comes from the U.S. Mint. There are black coin markings on the front and the back, as shown in the pictures above. On the back, there is a pen markings showing the number 5/86.
The bag measures 22" x 11 3/4"
We only have a dozen or so bags from the 100 bag box. Many are unmarked as to what they held with only crayon/pen markings on the back. These bags were part of a GSA (General Servic...es Administration) sale of 100 bags on September 4, 1980, as seen in the picture above. Each bag held $1000 in dollar coins. The GSA originally sold the coins to the public and then went back and sold the bags in 100 bag lots. Many were re-purposed and are no doubt destroyed. No one thought to save them! This bag would make an excellent display in a shadowbox. We have a number of different styles of bags from Philadelphia, New Orleans for both Morgan and Peace dollars that we will be listing.
This bag comes from smoke free house!
Shipping will be free within the United States.

On Jul-26-19 at 18:43:06 PDT, seller added the following information:7/26 I have been informed that while this not a CC bag, It is most likely a bag for 1886 Philadelphia Silver dollars from the GSA sale. It is the 5th bag in a group of 1886 coins. Philadelphia is the likely Mint.
