VERY RARE & OOP!
Yefim Gordon (assisted by fellow experts Keith Dexter with Dmitriy Komissarov) delivers another outstanding volume on Russian aircraft, this time the MiG-21. A really massive and comprehensive volume. This book must surely be considered the ultimate reference on this aircraft type! Masterfully researched & written, and complimented by hundreds of superb photos and diagrams. The book is now hard to find and can command huge prices from bookseller websites. I am reliably informed by Yefim Gordon himself (as of June 2019) that he has no plans currently to write an updated version.

First flown in 1956 and entering service in 1959, the MiG-21 Fishbed has proved to be one of the most successful of all Soviet era jet fighters, seeing service not only with the Soviet air force but with numerous other air forces worldwide. Among jet fighters, the MiG-21 holds a wide range of records covering total production figures and the number of nations that operated it. For the first time, this book provides a detailed description of every single member of the MiG-21 family, from the Ye-2 swept-wing development aircraft to the latest distant relatives of the Fishbed developed in China. Almost all versions will be illustrated by hitherto unpublished photos.Much attention will be paid to the MiG-21s combat career, including the Vietnam War, the Arab-Israeli conflicts, the Indo-Pakistani clashes and various local wars in Africa. Also included will be fleet lists for each operator featuring known serials and construction numbers. First ImpressionIt has been a while since any serious new publication on the MiG-21 Fishbed appeared in the market and it seems everything on this Soviet aircraft has been said and done. This is true until I received a copy of this new book published by Midland under the "Famous Russian Aircraft" label. It covers everything (actually more) we already knew about MiG-21 but in greater details and much better illustrations. I lost count of the number of pictures (over 1, 000), line drawings and colour profiles in the book because they are of very high quality and really attracted my attention during my read. This book is very heavy (7 lb.), hardcover with dust-jacket, 720 pages (2 inches thick). It took me 30 minutes just to flip through it page by page. (Remember to ask for extra protection if you mail order this book to avoid damages to such a great collectible item.)
