This particular motor was one of about 20 that were apparently produced by David Meares.
Presumably for use in tether car racing, perhaps at the Sydney Society of Model Engineers track which was at that time, at Ashfield.
With its robust construction and massive transfer bulge it makes a Dooling 61 look like a pup.
Measuring 2 and 1/4 inches in diameter, ...the head with its offset plug insert, is held down with no less than 12 machine screws.
Compression seems weak for such a large twin ring motor but it turns over smoothly and would no doubt run.
I have included some coins from various countries to give some idea of the dimensions of this monster, and will post these with the motor on its wooden stand.
Please view all images as they best depict the as used, original condition of this racing "giant" from mid 20th century Australia.
