GORGOUS LARGE 19thC VICTORIAN BURL WOOD CUT GLASS TANTALUS DECANTER SET BACCARATAMAZNG ESTATE TREASURE AUCTION INCLUDNG FINE ASIAN ARTS Hello, thank you for having a look at our auctions! Up for auction with no reserve is a gorgeous large 19th Century Victorian Burl Walnut, Gilt Brass and Cut Glass Tantalus Decanter set. The Tantalus is one of the finest quality examples I have personally ever seen and I believe the Glass is Baccarat or one of the other fine French Glass companies of the Period. The Set features 4 Matching Decanters and many stemmed glasses as seen, all of which are Hand Blow and feature amazingly hand engraved designs throughout.
The Tantalus is in fresh from an estate and is need of some TLC. There is some veneer cracking and the plaque on top with the family name was removed but you could have a new brass plaque with your name or initials installed. The Case also shows other small losses and defects throughout as seen. There is a total of 5 Glasses missing and one Decanter is broken with missing stopper as well, though that is not that noticeable when on display. The Tantalus in a large and impressive example measuring 14 inches by 10 inches and standing 103/4 inches tall. The Decanters each measure 8 inches tall with the stoppers by 2-3/4 inches wide and hold 12 U.S. Fluid Ounces and the Cups measure 3 inches tall by 1-1/2 inches wide holding approx 1 ounce.
