Made in German 1947-52 in this exact form. Rare early shaded (M) logo c...entre nib. After 1952 the (M) was no longer shaded. These nibs are fantastic to write with. Ultra creative. Wonderful flexibility. I also love this pens Orange/Yellow Amber see through window for viewing your ink reserve inside the pen. These pens are made of Celluloid. Jet Black High Gloss. The pen has no Cracks, Splits, Repairs, Dents, Scratches or Bite Marks. The Cap has Montblanc mountain Logo imprint down its side. Deep and Crisp imprint. The Blind Cap (Tail end) has 244 and F imprints. The Blind Cap unscrews off on these to reveal the knurled Piston turning knob. These fill the same as any modern Montblanc Piston pen. 146, 149 etc. Same as Pelikan 100 etc. Fully tested it works great. Fills every time nicely. These pen use the same feed as the 134 and 144 from 1940-50s Ski Slope Line feed. Regarded by MANY as the greatest feed Montblanc EVER made. I certainly believe this to be true. These feeds offer flexible nibs the right amount of ink whenever needed. Few feeds ever made by any manufacturer can claim superiority over these feeds. They are Top of their Class. Grade A++++++Feed. The Clip and Ring Bands are Yellow Gold plated and also superb. The Cap tops White STAR Logo is the highly sought after off White Ivory Colour that is unique to late 40s to 50s Montblanc.
Without doubt though the real STAR of the show has to be that fantastic 14C shaded (M) logo F FULL Flex Nib. These nibs were the FIRST type made in Hamburg after the war. Similar (M) logo nibs are also found on 134 and 144 1946 upto 1952. This generation of nibs 1946-52 are amongst the finest Montblanc EVER made. Between 1939 and 1945 they had to use steel to make nibs so I think they were just happy to finally have 14C solid Gold again to work with ;) They certainly out did themselves with this era of nibs. Phenomenal recovery and innovation. Many of these pens were shipped to England or sold to officers and soldiers stationed in Hamburg. The Gold and Celluloid for these early post war pens was provided by the British Command in charge of Hamburg at that time. Montblanc is one of the few success stories to happen so fast after the war. Winston Churchill and MANY officers in High Command were Montblanc users and fans long before the War and so such special attention to provide materials etc to get the factory back open and up and running had to come from above the normal chain of command. By 1946-47 Montblanc was almost fully recovered. By 1948 they had already designed the 146 and new generation of streamline pens that still exist in appearance to this very day. 1946 to 1949 Montblanc re-tooled, recovered and re modeled their entire range of pens. Making ALL the style cues still in use today. Just an Amazing turn around. (In 1944-45 they made as few as 4 or 5 pens a week on average sometimes. That's how bad it got).
Anyways I digress.. Back to how well this nib actually writes....Fine to Medium Fine line downstroke with Fine to Extra Fine line side stroke at normal pressure. Very elegant writer perfect for every day use. The Flexibility this nib has is very special indeed. I would say a touch softer than the 134/144 nibs of same era. A touch more flexible or easier to flex lets say. Not that the flex is loose or twitchy it certainly is not. Just that it is soft. Some like softer flex some like a more controlled firmer flex. Horses for courses. Either way VERY few nibs EVER made by ANY manufacturer can better this Montblanc generation of nibs. They are just sublime to use. On the downstroke this chap can flex from Fine all the way past Double Broad without even breaking a sweat. This nib was born to flex write. It is a thoroughbred so creative it leaves the competition in its dust. Grade A++++++ Flex Nib.
