This listing is for a fully functional BATTERY OPERATED GALLOPING COWBOY SAVINGS BANK as shown. It is in excellent condition. Tin litho is bright and shiny. No broken or missing parts. There is some green repaint on the base which can be seen in photos. It does display very well. A charming bank for your collection. This toy has been tested and works perfectly. Battery compartment is mint as are the connections. To operate, just drop in a coin and the cowboy rides the horse for nearly ...a full minute before stopping. His arms swing about and his hat and body sway. A cool nostalgic glimpse into the past when these types of amusement park rides were found in front of the local department stores like S.S. Kresge, Woolworth, K-mart, Wal-Mart and even Target. What child did not pester their parents for a ride on one? The helicopter, the rocket-ship ride.......they were all so coool.......... This is a "MADE IN JAPAN" toy listed in Don Hultzman's book, COLLECTOR'S GUIDE TO BATTERY TOYS, copyright 2002, second edition. It is listed & pictured on page 82. It is a 1960's era toy made by the Yonezawa Y Co. and distributed by Cragstan Toys. It has a rarity of 9 on a scale to 10 being the rarest, and a value of $1, 000.00+ in C-10 condition. This would make a fine addition to any collector of western, carnival, circus, coney island or boardwalk themed toys.
