Nice early Coleman Model 242K Kerosene lantern dated 9 (Sept)1934. The 242K was the first kerosene version of the single mantle 242 series. According to what I found online the K model was produced concurrently with the 242 gasoline model during the mid-1930's until the introduction of the 247 model in Canada in 1936. This example has almost all of the unique features of the 242K including the match hole trapdoor which slides open, the pin through the pump shaft, slotted pump cap, alum...inum pre-heater cup, filler cap hex nut and unembossed double split collar. The only thing I see missing is the unique disc or dial type generator control which is normally found on these. Overall a pretty nice example of a hard to find lantern but is does have a small dent on the side of the font as seen in the picture. Top hood is very nice and still retains its original green logo sunshine globe. I have a pile of Coleman lanterns, stoves and irons I will be selling over the coming weeks so check back again.
