Antique 19th Century Hand Forged Hawsing Iron.This tool was used in Ship Building to apply caulk between the seams of wood, (mostly on deck seams). A two-man operation, one man would hold the iron while another used a mallet to drive the caulk deep into the seams. It has a rotating head to facilitate use.
