SHERWOOD S - 5500 S5500 5500 INTEGRATED TUBE AMPLIFIER VINTAGE EXC. 7591
Item History & Price
Reference Number: Avaluer:992150 |
Excellent cosmetics -- close to 'mint'. Excellent working condition. It has been gently restored (see pictures). Quad of matched Fisher 7591 output tubes with lots of life. 1 telefunken 12ax7. other (4) 12ax7 ubes are mostly vintage but perhaps not special. Guestimating tube value in this unit at $250+. My knowledgeable Sherwood friend said that this is proably S5500-ii but I dont have a way of varying t...hat. See audioasylum and audiokarma for some notes on this great amp. Some have said that this is their favourite integrated and others that it is desert island material. Now becoming hard to find vintage units in this type of condition at a reasonable price.
FINE PRINT. SORRY.
Please see my other auctions for other cool audio items. Will be moving Altec, McIntosh & Lafayette, Fisher items soon.
NOTES1. Sweet but determined 3 year old boy destroyer in the house! Must move 3 rooms of audio collected over 20 years of buying. I am(was!) an audio hobbyist not a buyer/reseller. all items were bought for my personal use. Most bought during audiomart days(before ebay).2. I welcome auditions/SALES from local prospective buyers (NJ, outside Manhattan).3. Users with shades or less than 25 positive feedback scores should contact me before bidding.4. INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS PLEASE CONTACT BEFORE BIDDING. ONLY THE EBAY OFFICIAL INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING PROGRAM WILL BE USED. 5. Due to a few unscrupulous niggly dishonest buyers, I will be selling most of my items AS-IS. This does not mean the item is defective but it does mean that there probably wont be a refunds or returns. I will be open to discussing an issue i may have missed. I will give an accurate description of the working condition a few days before posting of auction ( i may recorde the session for the costlier items).6. Local pickup in NJ is welcomed. 7. I would welcome a small phone conversation from buyer for any item over $1000. I would prefer that you get what you want. A phone call might help you understand what you are thinking of. Most of you have skype or can get it. cost should be free. Thanks for your understanding.8. I am NOT a dealer or re-seller. I am an audio enthusiast who is cleaning closets after 20 years in hobby (baby arrived!). My goal is to create more space in house -- not to get maximum profit on selling.9. I will give an honest description as I see it. Known blemishes or defects will be noted in description. However, if I miss something it is not my responsibility to accept an return or broker a discount. I will sometimes offer an opinion on sound. Please take it with many grains of salt and understand that my ears and listening tastes and biases are very different from yours.10. I assume anyone buying vintage or used equipment from me, will understand that old equipment is not new; they also understand that most vintage equipment can be fixed at a cost that will be borne by the buyer. The buyer will understand that working condition does not mean perfect condition. I welcome auditions for those who can come to NJ. 11. If there is some gross or factual error in my description, I will accept a return (including return shipping). The buyer must clearly explain the gross error & I must agree to it. I am reasonable. I take responsibility for my errors.12. If the buyer is unhappy with the product and I do not agree with his reasoning but respect it, I may conditionally accept a return or partial refund (buyer will pay return shipping plus a 10% fee to compensate me for my headaches). I am getting tired of buyers who complain after buying a product (after over-biddig) and then want me to give them a discount. 13. Most of my equipment was bought from audiomart ads (many of the items were picked up in tri-state area (pa, nj, ny) about 20 years ago (oh, god, am i that old?).14. As always, please ask your questions (as many as you like) before you bid.15. I will pack well; double boxed when necessary; appropriate protection given for sensitive parts like switches. 16. For small items, shipping will be done 3-4 days after payment.17. For large items, shipping may take up to 7 days after payment (time need to locate appropriate packing material). Thanks for your patience and understanding.18. I am not responsible for shipping damage. 19. Normally, I will ship via USPS with real insurance for actual sale price.20. I strive to be fair & honest. Good karma & good business too.21. SHIPPING CHARGES. Please be cautious with specified ebay shipping charges -- THEY are just estimates. Actual shipping will be charged.22. Please look at pictures to assess condition. I dont normally clean up a product to spruce it up for a sale. If you want me to take more pictures, please let me know.23. Finally, if there is disagreement after sale, let us have a civilized constructive discussion. Ideally, I would like to find buyers who understand the product and who bid responsibly and pay market price. I really dont want people who are over-anxious and then over-bid and then get disappointed. 24. INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS. EBAY HAS A GLOBAL SHIPPING PROGRAM. THIS PROGRAM ALLOWS ME TO SELL AN ITEM TO AN INTERNATIONAL BUYER WITHOUT DEALING WITH CUSTOMS (THE MIDDLE-MAN HANDLES THIS). THIS PROGRAM BENEFITS INTERNATIONAL BUYER - PRICE IS CHEAPER THAN SHIPPING DIRECT. ALL MY INTERNATIONAL SALES WILL USE EBAYS GLOBAL PROGRAM. 25. Most of my photos are taken normally. I dont try to make something look too good..nor do I try to hide defects. Known blemishes are always highlighted. But sadly, I miss a few blemishes from time to time.
26. Thank for your interest& Thank you for your patience.
