Part of a family collection of Oriental items collected by our late Grand farther. This 19th century teapot originates from Tibet. The teapot is made of copper with brass cast mountings, from the weight of it it could well be a bronze but i am not an expert so please keep that in mind. The body of the teapot is plain with a flared neck and base with a well formed finial lid, the cast handle and spout in the form of dragons with fine detailed work. December 5, 1848, butthat mark was used between 1839-1851 when the company changed its name toCornelius Baker. Condition: Excellent with good patina. There are 4 prisms missing, one on the back of each side of the outstretched "arms" and two onthe back of the tall center piece. All of those are positioned so that, if youdidn't know they weren't there, you likely would not notice. If you wantedreplacements, the prism is generally called a "Colonial Prism" and iswidely available, but probably without the snowflake design. It is solidbrassbronze mounted on a marble plinth. The main design features black and brown enamel flowers and foliage that encircles the center of the cup. The decoration around the upper rim and above the foot ring are different and include a darker turquoise, sky blue with black in the upper design and yellow in the lower design. The interior of the bowl and the center bottom have a heav...ily applied deep turquoise enamel color.Measures 2 14" high with the top being 2 78" in diameter. ANTIQUE PAIR FRENCH GILT BRONZE CANDLESTICKS The featured items represents an antique, early 1800's, pair of French candlesticks that measure approximately 10 12" tall and 4 78" in diameter at the bottom.The pieces are made of "bronze doré" or "gilt bronze" and the technique is known as "ormolu" which involves applying finely ground, high-carat goldmercury amalgam to the bronze bronze. The central stem is not gilded but has an applied black finish over the bronze.The candlesticks have domed rou...nd bases with floral motif frieze and there is a central iron rod where the rest of the removable parts can be arranged. The different pieces are done and decorated by casting, chiselling and engine turning. The last technique is also known as "guilloche" in which a very precise, intricate and repetitive pattern is mechanically engraved into an underlying material via a "rose engine lath".The tapering stems have vertical ribs and are surmounted by a cornucopia baskets and nozzles with acanthus leaf frieze. On bottom of one of the candle holders there appear to be something like a mark or a letter in black but not sure if this is from the manufacturer or later addition.The items come in overall good condition for their age. Wax residue in the candle sockets. Some handling and usage wear like small scuffs, marks, dings and scratches. A bit of patina and finish loss on some spots. The bases rims are a bit bent. One of the nozzles has a puncture. The central iron rod is rusted but that's not visible with all the parts in place. Some production flaws and imperfections. The vase has a deep turquoise-blue background with all-over floral design with large flowers on one side and smaller flowers surrounding the rest of the vase. The vase has a valance type design around the top below the rim and a vertical stripe design around the bottom. The base is also decorated with a large flower design. The interior is heavily en...ameled in the same color as the background. This vase would make a great pencilpen holder on any desk as well as being a cabinet display.Measures 4 12" high with a 2 58" top and base diameter. Weighs 6.9 ounces. This nice vase is in very good Estate condition. There is one slight ding on the bottom bronze rim with a small loss of enamel in this area on the bottom and a some minor pitting from the firing process.
