Up for auction is a beautiful 1950s battery operated ROBBY THE ROBOT, also known as the SILVER PISTON ACTION ROBOT, or "PUG ROBOT" with NO BOX! This Robby was made in Japan around the late 1950s. I purchased him in the early 1990s and placed him inside a glass case where he's been on display for over 20 years.
This SILVER PISTON ACTION ROBOT is roughly 9 inches tall, and he still works well! Place two C batteries i...n his remote, press the button, and Robby will light up, his head pistons will move up and down, and he'll walk forward!
Robby does have some overall play wear as he is over 50 years old. I will try to point out all issues, but please look closely at all of the photos for details. From the top, his dome has a bit of "crazing" in the front, and there are a few "scuff" marks on his dome. There are a few small "nicks" on his silver body; a few by his left arm, and just below. The back has a few "scratches" by the lower part of his body and mid-section, but these are small. He has no "dents", just little "nicks" of paint or slight scratches. Legs look good, as are his foot wheels, and on the bottom of his body is stamped "made in Japan". The cord and battery box are in good condition. The paper inside the battery compartment shows evidence of battery leakage, but when I remove it the battery compartment doesn't show any evidence of battery leakage. Again, PLEASE LOOK CLOSELY AT ALL OF THE PHOTOS FOR DETAILS! He is all original, has no rust or corrosion that I can tell, and he still works nicely! No box!
